NYC Legislature - The Election Cycle?

I'm a NY resident, and while things are messed up in Washington, things are arguably worse in our state legislature. The process is completely sclerotic, with Pataki, Bruno, and Silver running more or less everything.

So, what are the chances of change? Can anyone more familiar with NY politics point me to some possible challengers that are taking on incumbent assemblymen or senators this cycle? What are the battles to watch? Which legislators won't have much of a fight on their hands?
