A remorseful ex-Bush voter site?

Mon Jul 26, 2004 at 01:05:32 PM PDT

This is my first diary here, but hearing some of the anecdotes in the diaries of people who voted Bush in 2000, and recalling some of the campaigns to keep people from voting Nader again by noting that his former supporters are no longer behind him and regret their vote (e.g. dontvoteralph.net), well, it got me thinking...

What would it take to put together a site where people who voted Bush in 2000 and other Republican leaning folks could come and post about their disaffection and how they refuse to vote for him again.

As a social psychologist, I'm inclined to think that if a site like this were to gain some momentum, it could make people feel a lot more comfortable voting against the guy they put in office in the first place. The way I see it, it would be a place where people could come to see that there were dozens, hundreds of other people like them, fooled into getting on board with a compassionate conservative, and ending up with a radical wingnut.

And there are a couple of other perks... For one thing, there is no Republican equivalent possible, because nobody has voted to make Kerry president, so they can't regret their decision. Also, every ex-Bush voter that switches to a Kerry voter is a swing of two votes in our favor (although even if they didn't vote Kerry, but Nader or Libertarian, I guess that would be good enough).

I have virtually no idea how to put together a website like this, but I'd be willing to help out any way I could if someone else did or had instrunctions. The concept is very simple. The one design suggestion I would have would be to use a header with the Bush quote popularized in Michael Moore's F9/11:

'Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - can't get fooled again.'
