Care packages for the troops in LA

Valley for Democracy and the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley are sponsoring a care package party and picnic this Saturday at Woodley Park in Van Nuys starting at 4 pm.

VFD Picnic and Iraq Care Package Party
Saturday, July 31st from 4-7pm
Woodley Park area 2, near Burbank and Woodley

Join us for an afternoon of socializing and friendship with all Valley Progressives. Bring your family and friends! We expect over 200 people. Live music, Democratic Speakers and a chance to help our soldiers in Iraq! Even though Bush lied to get us into the war, our soldiers should not be forgotten. Let's show people that Democrats also support our troops on a human level! Our goal is to make 300 boxes!

Many of our soldiers never get a letter or a package from home. Each package will be individually addressed and accompanied by a letter from you. Bring a picnic and join other Valley progressives for an afternoon with music and special guests kicking off Victory 2004.

What can you supply/bring?

• Phone cards for Iraq
• Individually packaged items (not bulk)
• Nothing that will melt in the heat
• Snack foods, hard candy
• Tuna fish packed in foil pouch
• KoolAid (presweetened), Crystal Light, Country Time Lemonade (ind pkgs)
• Carefree Koolerz Gum
• Kleenex, lip balm in tubes
• Battery powered handheld fans and AA batteries
• Writing paper, envelopes, pens
• Paperback books, Magazines, CDs
• No alcohol, Porn or Pork
• Shipping boxes (approx. 12X12X6) and shipping tape
• Checks or cash for Postage ($20 needed per package)
