Advice too good to get lost in the noise.

Blogger is messed up today, to the last post at Atrios' site has 600+ comments.  One of them towards the end is too good not to be seen by more people than will skim through that many posts, so I have excerpted some of it below.  The whole thread is here.

My solution to this whole matter (BTW the phone hasn't rung yet, for my expert advice, as I'm sure it hasn't rung for anyone else here) is for Kerry to make some kind of uber-aggressive, completely uncharacteristic statement that the SCLM will go bonkers over:

"Mr. Cheney's statement that a vote for Kerry-Edwards is a vote for certain death, is cheap and sleazy. But very, VERY Dick. We have come to expect this kind of obscenity from a man whose business ethics are in grave doubt among average Americans.

 

"But Mr. Cheney says he knows what to expect from a Kerry administration. Let me tell you right now, precisely what to expect from a Kerry administration.

"As president I will support a complete, no-holds-barred investigation of Halliburton. Cheney and Bush are so concerned about the 87 billion dollars I voted for? I pledge to you now: we WILL find out where that money went; to our soldiers... or to war profiteers.

If American boys and girls are being sent to Iraq, solely to line the pockets of Cheney's oil-soaked business cronies, as God is my witness, I will not rest until they are indicted, convicted and imprisoned. And if that group of war profiteers includes the current vice-president, let the chips fall where they may. THAT, Mr. Cheney, is what you PERSONALLY can expect from a Kerry administration."

You want coverage? Oh. You'll f[*%#]ing GET coverage. Granted, you will hear from the media endlessly, the words "gaffe", "lost his cool", "angry", etc. until it comes out your nose.

But a funny thing will happen.

Kerry's WORDS will filter through to the Stupids, right over the din of tut-tutting pundits. They will hear a man who is tough, fearless in the face of the Bush Crime Family, and taking the fight right into Dick's face. They... LIKE... THAT.
