Let's get rid of Larry Summers -- please help, Harvard alums!

Mon Jan 17, 2005 at 05:38:52 PM PDT

Larry Summers, brilliant economist and empirical thinker, apparently thinks that women don't acheive in math and the sciences because of innate biological differences.
Part of his evidence of these innate differences between men and women?

"He also cited as an example one of his daughters, who as a child was given two trucks in an effort at gender-neutral upbringing. Yet he said she named them 'daddy truck' and 'baby truck,' as if they were dolls."

Pure genius.  Even if the majority of girls "mother" their trucks, how does this negate their aptitude for math?

Does anyone else hate this guy as much as I do?

I'm not really plugged into the whole Harvard alumni network (okay, not at all), but I would love to know if there is any sort of movement or campaign to get rid of him.  A quick google search didn't turn up anything.

PS: This is my first diary entry, so if I've violated some protocol, please be kind. :-)
