Exciting Drug Policy Event at Cornell University on 11/5/05

Wed Oct 12, 2005 at 12:02:52 AM PDT

I wanted to let you know about a symposium that I believe will be of interest to you.  The Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy symposium will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2005.  This year's symposium title is "The Latest Developments in the War on Drugs."
The symposium will have three panels and a luncheon keynote address.  This year's keynote speaker will be Ethan Nadelmann, founder and executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, the leading organization in the United States promoting alternatives to the war on drugs.  "Rolling Stone" Magazine has described Mr. Nadelmann as "the point man" for drug policy reform efforts.

Our three panels will be on Gonzales v. Raich (125 S.Ct. 2195 (2005)),U.S. v. Booker (125 S.Ct. 738 (2005)), and parallels with the War on Terror.  The symposium schedule and panelist profiles are attached.

We expect that the controversy of these recent Supreme Court decisions and the quality of our speakers will attract a large crowd of law students, law professors and practitioners from the Central New York area.  We anticipate an honest discussion of the legal future of drug policy in America, with a lively exchange between the panelists and the attendees.

If anyone would like more information, reply, and I'd be happy to email you with more information, or if you tell me how, I'm happy to try to link the schedule and panel profiles.
