Primetime Segment coming up now - Santorum

Thu Nov 10, 2005 at 08:03:27 PM PDT

They just showed a teaser for a story on ABC Primetime that is coming after the break.  It's their last segment for the hourlong show called Double Talk.  The entire teaser was about Rick Santorum....if it's anything like what they showed, it should be good.  I will try to update....
UPDATE:
The segment is new and is basically a spotlight on those who say one thing and who do another.  They're showing a march on Washington of Dr's for tort reform with the support of Rick Santorum.  They're showing Santorum speaking at their march, talking about the critical need for curbs on lawsuits.  It's one of his favorite issues, apparently.  But in 1999 the Senator's wife sued a chiropractor for a botched spinal manipulation.  She was awarded well over the cap that Santorum has proposed -- $350K.  The reporter (Cynthia McFadden) catches up with Lil Ricky at a book signing and asks him if he thinks his behavior is hypocritical.  He backpedaled off of the cap he has proposed, saying it was just a starting point and that if everyone agrees it should be higher he would support that.  The reporter then stated that Santorum has voted against higher caps twice.  Santorum stated that he supports his wife in all of her endeavors but may disagree with the law in principle.   They claim she suffered humiliation from weight gain and was not able to accompany him on the campaign trail and her suffering was so great he had to carry the laundry up the stairs for her.  The jury was so moved by his testimony on her behalf and her case they awarded her $350K.  The Judge slashed the award the jury gave them in half. I was aware of this prior to this story but once again, MSM picking this up now makes me happy. We need more mainstream media spotlights on hypocrisy.
