I live in Massachusetts -- just about the most solid of the solid Dem states. Like many, many of my fellow Mass. Dems, I'd like to make myself felt in other states that are not so safely Democratic. The question is, how?
What I'd love to see is an online logistics/planning tool that would allow various precinct/district heads for a campaign (Dean's my guy, FYI) to post requests for assistance, which would be matched up with corresponding offers of assistence from individuals across the country.
Here's a use-case:
I'd be glad to spend one weekend a month or so starting in January in 'swing' states in the northeast, atlantic seaboard, or somewhat down into appalachia. I could post my offer of assistance, along with my regional preference, how much time I can offer, whether I require accommodations, etc. A Dean district manager in [Pittsburgh, Concord, Annapolis, etc] could post a request for assistance, and get matched up with me and however many other people are willing to work in their district. Of course, the process could go the other way, with requests pre-existing and being matched up with new offers.
Questions:
1. Does this exist already somewhere?
2. If not, please reply with your impression of this idea, and whether you'd be interested in participating.
I'd be glad to throw a system like this together (something could be up and running by mid-January, depending on my workload with other projects) if one isn't already up and running. Feedback is greatly appreciated.
