"We want to make sure that the American people understand that we're not for benefit cuts and we're not for privatization," Reid said. "There's no crisis in Social Security."

That's great. And that might stop them in the 109th Congress, but we need to stop them permanently. We need to expose the Bush administration for what they truly are - reverse Robin Hoods. Stealing from hard-working Americans to give to his already filthy rich friends.
The Treasury Department is doing a budget analysis to determine how many lower-income Americans could be shielded from benefit cuts necessary to offset the overall cost of creating private accounts, the officials said. . .

I don't care how many lower-income Americans you try to shield. Any way you slice it, this is just another reverse Robin Hood scheme.
Privatization of Social Security = Piratization of our security.
Bush is going to use his SOTU address to tell more lies about the alleged crisis in Social Security and to sell his piratization plan to the American public. If this administration is so concerned about younger American's retirement, why haven't they offered an alternate plan separate and distinct from Social Security? Of course, that would not provide a congressionally-mandated license to rob, er access, our trust fund, now would it?
Why can't we collectively put together an alternative to dismantling Social Security? Why can't we devise a retirement plan that is separate and distinct from Social Security? This could be something as simple as a national 401(k) plan that is tax sheltered until the funds are withdrawn or it can be as complex as you want make it.
We have far too many fine minds with financial genius lurking in their lofty lobes to just sit back and let this opportunity slip away. What do you say? Can we work together to devise a plan to stop Bush in his tracks? Can we actually create a national pension plan out here in the blogosphere? That would really give the SCLM something to write about, now wouldn't it?
With that, I yield the floor to my fellow Kossacks and financial geniuses. . .here's your chance to show how grey your matter truly is.
