I'm going to be on `Reliable Sources!'

Sun Apr 24, 2005 at 04:49:26 AM PDT

As least I assume so. I better finish this diary quickly so I can go wait for Howard Kurtz's phone call...
As I'm sure a lot of you know, The Washington Post recently reported that copies of a travel invoice and credit card statements indicate that a trip Tom Delay made to London and Scotland in 2000 was paid for by a credit card registered to lobbyist Jack Abramoff. (And brought to the dkos community's attention by EZ writer in this diary)

That's a no-no, of course, but R. Jeffery Smith, author of the Post story, misses a crucial point: if these documents do exist, the clear beneficiaries of them are Democrats, who, in their vicious partisan ways, would clearly celebrate such an embarrassment to Tom Delay. Therefore, it stands to reason that these "documents" that "prove" who paid for Delay's trip, may very well be forgeries concocted by Democrats!

I'm excited to say that I am the first person to break this story of Democratic dirty tricks. Maybe because it's the weekend, but none of the other great sleuths on the internets seems to have picked up on it. Even though its right out of there typical playbook, I was the first to put two and two together on it - I beat Powerline, free republic, lgf, Brooks, Limbaugh - the whole lot of them!

Not to toot my own horn too loudly. I'm not the first to blow the lid off of a Democratic Party scandal. Like others before me, I am sure Howard Kurtz will be calling me for comment, will reprimand his Post colleague for jumping the gun without considering alternate explanations (ibid), and will invite me to be on Reliable Sources with him next weekend (unless that new pope dies).

I'm sending a copy of this to Howard now, and I eagerly await his reply or call.

Update: An hour later and still no contact from Howard. He must be pretty busy.

Update 2: Two hours. Still nothing. Maybe he takes Sunday off - I'll update again when we gets in touch. Don't hold your breath.
