Reid Smear in Bullet Points!

Fri May 13, 2005 at 09:34:36 AM PDT

The most recent Armando post summarizes everything.

Might be too long for reporters to understand, though ;)

I thought I'd provide a concise bullet-point version.

I'll just leave out the Miranda part.  Kos and everyone else have covered that nicely.

If you like it, please pass to any news agency as a cheat sheet.

(below the fold)

------------------------

  • This week, Charles Hurt (Washington Times):
Senator Reid says an FBI file contains controversial information.
  • Same Article: "severe sanctions apply to anyone who discloses [this file's] contents."

  • One year ago, a newspaper article: A Senate meeting discussed this FBI file.
  • Same Article: this information "failed to remain secret" and available on the internet.
  • Same Article: FBI file contains controversial information.
  • Same Article: ALSO written by Charles Hurt (Washington Times).

  • Multiple news outlets revealed the same information
  • Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) revealed the same information.

Summary:
(1) Controversial nature of the FBI memo has been common knowledge for a year and is not secret.
-OR-
(2) Orrin Hatch also faces "severe sanctions".

You think the news people will be able to follow that?
