Before I begin, I have to say that this week's Newsweek article is fabulous, and if Kerry wins the nomination, I won't be embarassed to support him.
(And if if I was, it's all about beating Bush, as the Good Doctor said).
I had, in the past, tried to round up my friends to support Dean. Now that this has come and gone, I'm trying to get them behind Edwards. Here is the letter I am sending out:
Dear Friends,
What a crazy year it has been.
Like so many of you, I was profoundly moved by Howard Dean's campaign for the presidency. While the establishment media painted Dean's campaign as a campaign of anger and despair, it was really a campaign about hope and empowerment.
Howard Dean may no longer be running for president, but we still have the power to take back America.
In his speech today, Dean asked us to send progressive delegates to Boston. That is my mission.
I have compared the records and the backgrounds of the remaining candidates, and I have made my choice. I believe that if we're going to follow Dr. Dean's advice, our best chance to get a progressive Democratic nominee this year is with John Edwards.
Like Dean, Edwards has an optimistic vision of a united America - one that is not divided by race, gender, or class.
Just as important, Edwards has laid out a policy agenda that is pragmatic, common-sensical, and progressive. I encourage you to read the campaign pamphlet, "Real Solutions for America", and consider the positive impact these proposals would have on you and your family.
John Edwards is more than just talk - in the Senate he's stood up to George W. Bush on issues that effect working familes, while excercising bipartisan leadership on issues that effect all Americans. As a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Sen. Edwards is well aware of the threats America faces from overseas.
And you know, that's not too shabby for the son of a millworker who went to NC State, not a fancy school back east.

I appreciate any time you can give to take action on some issues that are very important to me. Please feel free to pass this message along to any of your friends who would like to support these causes.
