I think I've figured it out. I have an idea how to get intelligent conservatives to support Kerry over Bush. It's all about personalization of Kerry by bringing up his strong points in hypothetical situations where the person you are talking to has to pick between Kerry and Bush.
For example:
"If you were just shot and the perp left you lying in an alley bleeding to death, would you rather have Bush or Kerry there to save your life with first aid? Keep in mind that Kerry has experience with life and death situations in Vietnam."
Or:
"Imagine that you have only $100 to your name, and that George W. Bush and John Kerry both offer to invest it for you. Who would you pick, knowing that Bush has presided over many failed businesses?"
It would have to be a lot more subtle than that, but I think you get the idea. People who support Bush in things like the economy or the war against terrorism do so because of his percieved idealism. However, in practical means, every sane person knows that Bush would not do a good job. What do you all think?
