One of the good points Buchanan makes is this whole idea of wiping out evil. As any Christian knows, humanity is inherently sinful - and thus always has potential for evil. The idea that humanity can somehow eliminate this impulse is ridiculous - its like trying to win a war against God. But one does not have to be a Chrisitan to take this view. Utopianism is impossible, humans are inherently flawed: there is no "end to history." The best we can do is admit our weaknesses and work from there. Didn't these guys learn anything from the 20th century? The hubris and surreality of their thinking never ceases to amaze me.
