Explore this opportunity to make mischief

One of the few advantages of being on Don Wildman's American Family Association e-mail list is the opportunity to use their mass e-mail campaigns for a little samizidat of one's own. In this case, the Good Reverend would like his myrmidons to e-mail Sen. Schumer concering the Roberts nomination.
Take this opportunity, for example:

The form theo-fascist language Wildmon suggests is:

"Dear Senator Schumer,

In order to be consistent and fair, I ask that you apply the "Ginsburg Standard" when questioning Supreme Court nominee John Roberts.  As you recall, Justice Ginsburg refused to answer questions regarding issues on which she might be ruling.  I think nominee Roberts should be treated in the same manner..."

Blah, blah, blah. You get the point.

Here's what I wrote instead (titled "Grill Roberts thoroughly, then filibuster the nomination"):

"Dear Senator Schumer,

I want you to grill Judge Roberts thoroughly on his role in the theft of the Presidency by George W. Bush in 2000.

I also want you to find out how in the world is he supposed to rule on matters of fundamental rights at trial when he has never, EVER, served as lead counsel or effective second chair in any case in front of any trial court anywhere.

Thank you for applying this fair and just standard. The American people are sick and tired of having judges who have no clue about being real lawyers in real cases. After all, for all their "conservatism," both Justices Thomas and Scalia spent their formative careers as federal government attorneys in Washington shuffling paper and bloviating about original intent.

Roberts is no more qualified to hear appellate cases involving fundamental rights than George Bush is to lead the United States in defending them to the rest of the world.

Oppose, then filibuster."
