I was so close to Scotty I could've spit on him! (w/poll)

I saw White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan tonight in D.C., up close and almost personal. I was mere feet away from him. Too bad he was tucked safely inside his behemoth SUV, or I'd have asked him some tough questions....

I took my son to D.C. tonight to watch the fireworks show. As we and several hundred thousand of my closest friends (all the other "commoners" or "fodder units") were making our mass exodus out of the city, we walked past the South Lawn of the White House. That's where we saw a line of cars trying, fruitlessly, to exit from the WH grounds out into the street full of people.

The line of vehicles was mostly huge, black SUVs. I looked closely at the person driving the first vehicle, the one trying to run over peds to get out (not really but I thought I'd stir up trouble), and who was at the wheel? Why it was our favorite shrubber, Scott McClellan!

I yelled to my son (and anybody else within earshot) "Hey, look! It's Scott McClellan!" He asked me who Scott McClellan was and I told him, "He's the guy they put in front of the cameras to lie for the pResident." He knew then who I meant.

A couple of college kids were behind us almost a block later and I heard them talking about all the security fences and what not. They were saying, "Yeah, they're afraid of people like us." I asked if they saw Scott McClellan. One of them said, "Where? I'd have punched him if I'd seen him!" I said he was in his big SUV trying to leave the WH grounds. He was sorry to have missed his opportunity to maybe heckle him through his windshield. Oh well, maybe some other time!
