In exclusive stunning admissions to The BRAD BLOG some 11 months after the 2004 Presidential Election, a "Diebold Insider" is now finally speaking out for the first time about the alarming security flaws within Diebold, Inc's electronic voting systems, software and machinery. The source is acknowledging that the company's "upper management" -- as well as "top government officials" -- were keenly aware of the "undocumented backdoor" in Diebold's main "GEM Central Tabulator" software well prior to the 2004 election. A branch of the Federal Government even posted a security warning on the Internet.
If this source is credible (and I assume that Brad has done his research), this MUST be made into a national story! Front Page Everywhere!
Update [2005-9-15 20:40:44 by Ramar]: It seems as if this diary has reopened some of the post-election pie-fights over the "stolen election" theories etc... I did not participate in those because I was not able to grok the facts from the rumours. However, I have reached a personal critical mass regarding a point that should not be controversial at all: Diebold should be the ones forced to give the voters/watchdogs full and transparent access to the entire system in order to prove to us that they are %100 tamper-proof. I now believe it may take considerable heat to force this, but the ballot-box is the cornerstone of Democracy and there are too many reasonable doubts about Diebold to let them slide.
