Sorry, this diary isnt about Rove or Clement. :). Some polls from
Rasmussen on the Senate races in 06. More below the flip....
Maryland
Steele: 40
Cardin:45
Other:4
Undecided:11
Steele:47%
Mfume: 40%
Other: 4%
Undecided: 9%
Hmm, I'm not from MD, so someone can correct me, but those Mfume-Steele numbers seem odd. I think Cardin is definitely the better candidate. Mfume's scandal doesnt help him. It's hard to run an anti-corruption campaign with a scandal. But a 7% point lead?? Anyway, I think Cardin over Steele by 5% is encouraging since his name recongition is lower. Again, I've said it before: I cant find anything whatsoever appealing in Michael Steele. If 2006 is a pro-Dem year, even slightly, I think Cardin will be fine. He might not be Barack Obama, but he is a solid candidate, with a good record IMO.
Virginia
Warner: 48%
Allen: 44%
Other: 3%
Undecided: 9%
Favorable/Unfavorable
Warner: 63/31
Allen: 58/37
This poll surprises me as well, since I thought Allen was pretty popular. And his favorables are good, but I didnt think Warner could beat him. It is unlikely Warner will run since he has his eyes on president, or maybe a potential open Senate seat(which he would cruise into I think) in 2008.
More polls later today, I believe, so stay tuned...
