Yes, my title is extreme. And, no, I don't plan to defect to the GOP. But after the president replaced a black man with a black woman at the State Department, nominated a Latino for Attorney General, and has made repeated salvos to the minority community, I can't help but be less-than pleased with my own party.
And I'm sure you're saying, What's the complaint? Well, why wouldn't a minority even be considered for the DNC chair slot? I mean, just one. Some minority names were pushed out by the Associated Press, but that was mainly drummed up by the candidates themselves and the folks around them. Party leaders and insiders are whispering the same non-minority names and are moving to coronate. But why couldn't a minority truly be among those who are considered? And why is it that we have to fight our own party to be included time and time again?
Statewide and national candidates pratically park in black communities during campaign time, but when it comes time to install a leader of the national party we seem to only have an all-white list. I'm sure the people mentioned (Vilsack, Shaheen, etc.) are all fine people and I don't have a major beef with any of them. But why couldn't a minority like Alexis Herman or someone like that be "seriously" considered by the party elite?
Is it just me?
