After having gone through the nightmare on Medicare Part D Street, it occurred to me that something will happen either right before the November elections or right around that time.
What is it?
It's Medicare Part D!!!!
There is no coverage for medications after one reaches a certain level and then only after one has met a $3,500 out-of-pocket for the year will it pick up the costs again.
The following is from Medicare's website:
http://www.medicare.gov/...
After you pay the $250 deductible, here's how the costs work:
You pay 25% of your yearly drug costs from $250 to $2,250, and your plan pays the other 75% of these costs, then
You pay 100% of your $2,850 in drug costs, then
You pay 5% of your drug costs (or a small copayment) for the rest of the calendar year after you have spent $3,600 out-of-pocket. Your plan pays the rest.
So, who votes more often than not? The Senior citizens and who is going to be paying 100% of their drugs around the end of the summer to early-mid Fall? The Senior citizens.
I really see an opening when people are having to cough up $500/month for medications instead of $100 or so.
We were early victims of the mess when trying to sign up my mother-in-law. In fact, since she was not on the "right plan" by January 1st, we have had to pay 100% of jacked-up prices on her monthly medications - costing well over $500 (up from the $250/month we had been spending on her drugs).
This is a GREAT opening that will be occuring just around election time!!!!
In political terms it is a great opening even though the people will have to suffer and many will.
