Take a trip with me into tinfoil hat territory.
For the past 3 and one-third years, Bush supporters have maintained, in a revisionist historian manner, that Bush was actually elected President in 2000. Some have even gone so far to say that he won the popular vote, which is not the case. Certain Florida recount totals show that he may have edged out Gore in the Electoral College.
Nevertheless, none of that acutally matters, as the Supreme Court stepped in and declared Bush the winner, literally appointing him to the Presidency. This is something a lot of people still fail to understand.
As I said, the Bushies have maintained that Dubya was actually elected. Now, say he does get elected, this time around, be it through an honest take of the vote, or through Diebold-brokered fraud. Somehow this country makes it through another 4 years of Bushpolitik and the 2008 election cycle comes up. Suddenly BushCo changes its tune. Bush WASN'T elected in 2000. He was actually appointed by the Supreme Court, and wouldn't you know it? That means he can run for another term! Yeeehaw!
