Something about advertising theory and precious coffee beans

Sat Oct 14, 2006 at 03:03:20 PM PDT

Since the audition of the banner ads here--which I do not mind at all, despite the fact that several of the hamsters who power my computer have experienced cardiac arrest trying to load the page--I have become a wee bit more concious of ads, but also acutely aware of a relative dearth of diaries complaining them.
Ok, so the Chevron ads bought out some carping, but nothing particularly memorable. What is happening to the Kos/ovarian/sack crowd? Where is that old "Why does Kos hate blind people?" spirit? I say it's "big-blog complacency syndrome", which worries the fuck out of me 2 years before an election.

One thing that I think everyone has seriously underestimated is how the banner ad with Schweitzer will come back to haunt Democrats for the next 2 centuries. At a time where our strategic masterminds are scouring the campgrounds for rethugs and pages, here this site is trying to seduce people to win a river rafting trip with a Democrat! ALARM BELLS SHOULD BE GOING OFF!!!!!!! Dems might as well hang themselves with the bolo tie of ineptitude.

Unfortunately, since I am on the "composing page", I completely forgot about what other ads are currently on DKos, so this "extended body" has plum run out of material. Yes, I could open another browser and look, but I'm already 52 years old. No thank you!
