Let's slip into the time machine and set the DeLorean for, oh .. 2306, making our mark in time as a reference point, roughly about one third through the 'American time' continuum.
Will there still be human life on Earth?
And if there is, will there be a country called the 'United States of America'?
Will there be 'countries', at all, or will there be a conglomeration of Europeans, Asians, Africans and then the melting pot of what used to be 'the United States' operating under one government system?
I have a lot different scenarios in my head, stories that I could create to match the future. Lots of them, not good; they are escalations of war, of greed, class stratification and breakdown of what we have come to know as 'modern civilization'.
But somewhere in the large list of the infinitely possible universes I imagine, there is a world where people have hope, have real freedom and real responsibilities as world citizens.
Should that include nations, as we know them today?
What's your nightmare or dream for July 4th, 2306?
{no fair having 'GW Bush the 13th' as Ruler of the World, either -- I already thought that one up}
