Do you live in an apartment?

Sat Oct 28, 2006 at 09:53:11 AM PDT

Election Day is November 7, 2006.  This is what some of us can do before then to encourage voting.

If you live in an apartment building with a majority of Democrats, then you can slip fliers under people's doors with polling place information.

STEP 1:  Find out the polling place and hours from your state's Secretary of State website.

STEP 2:  Enter the address of your building and the polling place at Yahoo! maps to get driving directions.

STEP 3: Print fliers on your computer which say "RESIDENTS OF (your building) VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2006 AT (the hours and address and driving directions.)"

STEP 4: Slip the fliers under people's doors.

Extra:

You can write on the bottom of the flier, "This is an unofficial document by an individual.  For more information, visit the official website of the Secretary of State at (the website address.)"

If you live in a state with Election Day registration, then you can note in the flier that people don't have to be previously registered.

If you know that more than one precinct votes at your polling location, then you can include your precinct number. That will be at your state's Secretary of State website.

Making the flier non-partisan should avoid being offensive to your neighbors.

Note:

Only do this if allowed by the rules of your building.

You can write on the bottom of the flier, "This document was produced by an individual tenant. It isn't from building management. It isn't from any government agency, campaign, etc."
