It looks more and more likely that, contrary to the only purpose we have left for this war, we'll be handing over Iraq to some strongman or another and probably to years of civil war.
I really do believe that now we have to stay in Iraq and finish this for the better. This have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too warfare doesn't cut it and I wish that if they must do things I oppose then they could at least do them well.
Is there a way to use this against them? Can the anti-war crowd seamlessly transition into the Win-The-Peace crowd or will the public simply balk? This seems like a golden opportunity for Howard "I think the war was a mistake but we have to finish the job" Dean to lay into Bush on defense, or for Clark to finally put those defense credentials to good use, but will it take?
What's the soundbite that says "They started a war and can't finish it. I wish they hadn't started it (as I've been saying all along) but now we must finish it"? If there's a way to work "Liars, liars, liars" into that it would probably be pretty good too.
