CT-SEN: I'm in the Bridgeport Office Right Now!
Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 11:43:23 AM PDT
I'm at the Democratic campaign office in Bridgeport where there are lots of DeStefano and Lamont volunteers and staffers working. Well there were a lot in the office but most of them are out dropping off literature to neighborhoods in the area. I'm way too out of shape to do all that walking but some of the walkers convinced me to go with them. Connor, Devin, Vera, and Stella have been out daily knocking on doors and ropping literature.
Below the fold is more about what's going on and I'll try to update every two hours.
Jim Dean's been in and out of the all day today. He's in and out so fast I've not been able to get a photo of him yet. But guess who is HERE RIGHT NOW. None other than Aldon Hynes and Kim Hynes and their lovely daughter Fiona. Aldon and Kim are sitting on the floor AT THIS VERY MOMENT sorting out lists and whatever else it is that their being asked to do.

I'm taking a break to post this and will be getting back to stapling together liteature to be distributed in neighborhoods and at the polls. Tomorrow I'll be volunteering at one of the polling sites here in Bridgeport.
In case you've put off volunteering for Ned Lamont, I wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the election. You can join us right now if you want to help staple literature together or drive around and leave literature at peole's homes in the area. Or feel free to stop by with some fried chicken, pizza, soda, cookies, cake, or fruit to help the volunteers get through the day. We're at 300 Fairfield Avenue here in Bridgeport. (203) 331-9869.
We'll be here late tonight and early tomorrow morning.
Update 1
Wow, Fiona's been helping me with some literature. She told me that Joe Lieberman works for George Bush! You really need to get down here and help us get Joe Lieberman out.
I put this down below, but here's a link to some of the photosI took last Saturday in Bridgeport. There are some of Ned speaking, the bridge that opened one day and has been stuck ever since due to lack of transportation funding. And then some examples of the urban blight around the city. It reminds me of something Carol Shea-Porter said about out sourcing our road infrastructure to foriegn nationals. Are these actions and images representative of a wealthy nation?
Here's a couple of the staffers down here Charles and Leisha.
Update 2: 7:30PM EST
We're still here. Half an hour until the election day volunteer meeting starts. Latoya and her mom are here. She's been working here constantly and always has a bright smile on her face. Oh to be young again! We're still stapling but the election day volunteers are coming in.
Update #3: 9PM EST
<cough> <cough> Do I hear someone feeling poorly who is going to have to call in sick tomorrow in order to volunteer for Lamont?
Wow!!! We had a ton of people at the meeting tonight. The one thing I can't do is estimate how many of the people are DeStefano vs. Lamont people. From my two weeks in Connecticut it seems like the Farrell people haven't been coordinating with the other big Dem campaigns. Maybe we'll hear something more concrete after the election.
If you're interested in volunteering in the Bridgeport area, then call Charles at 331-9373. You can make phone calls, drive people to the polls, stand at the polls and hand out palm cards, or canvass to pull people out of their houses to vote.
I'll be at the Blackham polling place and I'll take my internet with me and maybe I'll be able to live blog from the polling place a couple times tomorrow.
Wherever you are, get out the vote tomorrow!
