To surge or not to surge...

Fri Dec 22, 2006 at 02:37:54 PM PDT

Riddle me this Batman:
"When is an escalation of violence not an escalation?"

Answer:
When it's a "surge."

Okay, we all know Bush is operating out of an Orwellian collective unconscious, but we need to start using the "Reality Check" solution, and on a 24/7 basis.  Specifically, a surge sounds nicer than an escalation. And no doubt polls show that. But the nail needs more than just a tapping on the head. It needs to be hammered home!  It's time to remember the basics:

The supreme strategy that MUST be applied is the same one that drives the entire neo-con "wag the dog" manifesto:

"He who defines the situation, determines the outcome."

more below...

We must get ALL on the dem leadership side to use our own vocabulary and diss the rethuglican sound bytes.  "Surge?"   What the hell is that?   I know what it is in a 110 Watt electrical outlet.  You want my opinion on a "surge" in military parlance?   I have a hunch that even the Generals don't know what it is, but not being a military strategist, (and neither is Reid, or Bush, and especially not the MSM!) show me what it is in detail and I'll give you a response. Otherwise, take two Midol for your "hot flash" and call someone else in the morning.

When ANYONE talks about a "surge:"
Don't answer!

And don't expect me to answer or agree or disagree with ANY terminology that comes out of  a Bush administration.
EVER!
NEVER!
EVER!"

We already know it's all smoke and mirrors.   Don't we?

So as soon as some new Orwellian cliche' pops up, I think we should not play Bush's game of "whack-a-mole" and try to smack it down, go into Pavlovian defense, or agree with it. It is most assuredly just another Rovian neo-con bumper sticker IED for Dems to blow themselves up over.

What do I support in Iraq?   Uh, well, I support communication first, since no one has a actually tried just talking to all the parties invovled! I also support no escalation of invasion and I support what the generals say is necessary to save lives and get our troops home.  Bush's own ISG says that the Iraqi conflict requires a Political solution not a military one. Meaning that conversation has to happen in there somewhere between artillery rounds!   So I support Bush's own appointed study group, Even though I personally don't think they go far enough.

Still, it just so happens that Bush doesn't support his own study group.   So what do I think about a "surge" in Iraq?   Get a surge protector.

Let's start slamming their double-speak right down their own lying bloody throats and let them choke on it.  And if any in the MSM insist on our definition of their invented phrases, refer them to Orwell. Let them try and spin that.
