Let's think about this term "activist judge" for a bit.
The more I hear this term, the more I wonder what it really means. It is used by Shrub regularly, and yet, there is no real definition of this term that I am aware of. What's more, our in-activist press corp hasn't called him on this one
My question to one and all is: What is an "activist judge."
Does an activist judge go duck hunting with the Veep before considering a case that he is directly involved in?
Does an activist judge hoard stone carvings of the ten commandments?
Does an activist judge believe that votes actually count in a general election?
I wonder...
I think that conservative think tanks have concluded that the word "activist" is bad and are using it as such. For example: consumer activist, human rights activist, anti-globalization activist, and so on. Being "active" - that is to say, standing up for some set of principles for the benefit of all - is not a good quality for a judge in Mr. Bush's opinion.
"Activist" = "progressive" perhaps? What do you think?
