A Republican told me that I have Values ... With Poll

Wed Feb 01, 2006 at 03:35:15 PM PDT

At the dog park a group of us were siting around talking about  doing our taxes.  I mentioned that I had to use Turbo tax Premiere to do mine.  I was asked why I just didn't use the regular one. I told them that I sell on eBay and had to use the business tax software.

continued after the break:

All of them except for our resident Fundie told me that I was foolish to declare eBay income becuase eBay does not report it to the IRS. They thought that I was out of my head as my total income for last year including unemployment payments and eBay was only $9,900.  I tried to explain to them that I felt that it's a privilege to live in the US and citizens should support their country.

I was told in no uncertain terms that I was foolish as the rich do not pay their fair share.  I conceded the point that the rich do not pay their fair share but their actions have no bearing on how I conduct myself.  I was losing the battle and was starting to feel very defensive when the "Fundie" spoke up and said to everyone "leave her alone, she has values"

Wow! knock me over with a feather.  I had never thought of it that way.  The rest of the day her defense of me was ringing in my ears.  I, a Democrat have Values that a Fundamentalist Republican admires.
