Hackett did it all to himself

I hope I'm not troll-rated for this, but it's what I believe.
Hackett stepped out before the primary. He did this all to himself. When it was evident that Brown, somebody who seemed to be of a like-minded political persuasion, had a much better chance of winning, he wouldn't run for a congressional seat that he had a sure chance of getting.
Why? Because he gave his word to the other Democrats running. WHY DID HE DO THAT? Why would a man make an absolute declaration like that? Completely ridiculous. People keep saying "he's staying true to your word", well that's really stupid if you make absolute declarations that you might have to rescind. Don't go around saying you'll never eat peanut butter again if there's a chance you might want to eat peanut butter at some point in your life.
There's no reason for him to declare that he would never run in the congressional seat to those democrats. They're not poor orphans who need this job to pay for mother's hospital bills. They're politicians with a similar interest. And if it means beating the Republicans, then they would STEP ASIDE.
JUST LIKE HACKETT SHOULD HAVE DONE. If you care about what you believe, THEN YOU WOULD STEP ASIDE.
But instead, his self-entitlement took over. Either all or nothing. That's inept. Take the ball and go home then. Why not stick it out through a primary? Maybe you could have shown the Dems that you truely would have won without all the money, but he couldn't care.
