March 14, 2006, could be the day we take back the Ohio Democratic Party. A new group, HackPAC, has just formed with one simple goal: recruit Paul Hackett to run as an Independent for U.S. Senate.
The story has been covered from coast to coast. Sherrod Brown, Ted Strickland, and Chris Redfern worked together over the past month to force Paul Hackett out of the race for Senate. Rather than fight fair, they used Bush's tactics against an Iraq War veteran whom they asked to run for Senate.
In the words of several bloggers today, we're sick and tired of politicians who talk like Democrats and act like Republicans. If you agree, join HackPAC today.
With your help, we'll get the ground ready for Paul to run as an Independent. And if he decides to sit this one out, we'll make sure that as many Ohio voters as possible join our fight to take back the Ohio Democratic Party.
We make two promises:
If you agree that establishment Democrats have finally gone too far, don't get mad -- get active. Help us make Paul Hackett, the original fighting Democrat, the symbol of our movement for real change in the Democratic Party.
- Every dollar you contribute to HackPAC will be used to rebuild real democratic activism in Ohio.
- We will always be honest and upfront in our support of real democratic ideals in Ohio.
If Paul decides not to run as an Independent, we'll use every dollar to reach Ohio voters with Paul's progressive message of real change, right now.
This isn't about beating Democrats, it's about making sure they don't beat the grassroots again!

We'll see where this goes. I personally don't expect Hackett to bite, but considering the fact that he was roundly screwed over and betrayed, who can blame him is he takes this seriously? We Dems have to stop this kind of behavior. Hackett was treated unfairly, and he deserves a hug and a lengthy, heartfelt apology from all those who colluded to push him off.
