DeWine Surges in Ohio after Hackett's Departure

Rasmussen reports that Mike DeWine's numbers look a lot better in Ohio this morning following Paul Hackett's untimely withdrawal from the race:

Can Sherrod Brown close the gap?  Sure.  It's February.  But if even half the backroom machinations that resulted in Hackett's withdrawal that are being reported are true, I think the Democrats have really shot themselves in the foot.  The "Fighting Dems" meme has legs, and could even be the magic bullet against the "Democrats Soft on Defense" idiocy that the GOP trots out like clockwork every election season.  But at the very least, we have to stop Swift Boating our own.
