But I am positive that these are numbers that are before the accident. Now, because of the media blitz, I am predicting that there will be a surge in these numbers.
And I think that this will represent an interesting story.
How will the faithful Bush administration supporters explain a surge in popularity after Cheney's buffoonery?
Considering that there is no real national interests at stake, I think that this issue, unlike some other major issues, represents a good oportunity for testing of the American public. Is it possible to get into the psyche of these people and reveal the absurdity of their unquestioned faith?
Incidently, my parents are already a positive sample of my theory. But unfortunately, there is no getting into the psyche. And although I'd like to think that I'm the only poor bastard who has such problems, I'm pretty sure that anytime that a member of the Bush administration is seriously challenged the base will rally to support them.
But if we do get a surge in support, is it possible to use this to provide a reflection into thier irrationality? This is a rare issue where "we" can stay aloof while at the same time point to the parallels in the mechinisms of defense for the countless other administration blunders (e.g. "Helluva job Brownie" = You handled the situation "just fine" Dick).
