Just read "Failure" by Armando.
Great Post. Armando seems to have seen the light. And how brilliantly it shines. Waking up is sometimes awkard, but soon there'll be a spring in his step again.
So I don't think this is failure. Indeed it's a great success.
Funny, I think that I have probably been the most consistently negative person on Kos about everything Democratic. My frustration with these people knows no bounds.
I first joined KOS because I implicitly believed that this fantastic blog, finally offered an opportunity to change things for the better.
I also
knew that the only way to change things was when as a group -- a growing throng -- we began to let our elected representatives know in unison how absolutely spineless we thought they were. And, even if we had to fund primary opponents ourselves, we would do it unless they began to represent our interest. We would support those who showed courage and conviction, and denigrate & to the extent that we could, punish those who acted against us.
Hardball.
Instead what I found was that the Dems could do no wrong as far as Kossaks were concerned. Or, it was not PC to criticize them as the poor things were already taking so much crap from the Republicans. The more ground they lost to the Republicans the more brilliant some folks here seemed to think they were. Armando himself thought Harry Reid was a genius. Compared to Daschle, yes, but we still don't have a leader. So instead of forcing change, forcing them to fight, we were their enablers. We propped up these losers, confirming the old axiom that one gets the leaders one deserves.
For the most part, congressional Democrats are timid. Nothing they do is principled. I cannot think of a thing they would not cave in on if enough pressure were placed on them, or if a poll suggested they should do it. Their actions are guided by the things they fear. Our job is to make them fear us more that they fear all the other boogymen out there -- the media, the Republicans, the pundits, swing voters, being seen as obstructionists, you name it.
We are the ones they should be scared of. Praising them isn't going to work. Hardball is. We can do it, if we begin to see them for what they are. Looks like we are beginning to do so.
