Anyone who checks in on my ramblings will probably come to the conclusion that I think Bush is a fascist. Corporate welfare and unaccountability, a religious ideology of demonization and The Other, and militarization pretty much make the case for me.
We have seen Bush militarize the "Global War on Terror," we have seen Bush militarize diplomacy, (even though he is the classic cowardly bully who talks loudly and carries no stick), and now we see Bush militarize hurricane relief. Bush fiddled while New Orleans flooded, Chertof and "Brownie" got their intel from newspapers, Bush went to San Diego to hobnob with fellow corporate welfare advocates and get paid off, and then he sent in the troops and had his toady propagandists slime the mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana.
I live in Louisiana, accross Lake Ponchartrain from New Orleans. The mayor and the governor did declare a state of emergency; Bush vacationed. The governor begged for help; Bush fund raised and flew over New Orleans in what he thinks is his private jet.
And when even the Mainstream Media finally noticed that this guy is incompetent and put pressure on him to do his job he sent in the military. Of course one of the reasons he had to do this was because he had sent far too many of the Louisiana National Guard out of the country on his Iraqi boondoggle.
Our founders made standing armies unconstitutional. Our National Guards were created for just the purpose of relieving natural and man made disasters. Bush's handling of the tragedy of Katrina simply reaffirms that he is a fascist at his core.
