What Book Best Mirrors Current Events? With Poll.

I was sitting here reading the blogs and my wife mentioned that the real book that current history is based on is not Orwell's '1984' but is, instead, 'Farenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury.

'Farenheit 451' is about a fascist anti-literate society that is controlled with the active participation of the state-run media. To say that the government discouraged literacy would be a mild description of their tactics. I mention this because about half of the adult women in her book club had never read it before. [It was this month's selection.]

I realized that she is right [again]. If you ponder a bit, our national situation isn't so much the Orwellian "Goodspeak" of "Clear Skies Initiative" and "No Child Left Behind," but is more the fact that few people READ anymore.

"If it ain't on Fox, it ain't newsworthy." You can insert the (TM) of any of the 5 conglomerates that 'own' OUR broadcast bandwidth (courtesy of the veniality of the FCC) into the same quote and it will be as true for their audience. The content is not weighted for thought or information but is simply for entertainment, shock, outrage and titillation. You don't have to think, read or do anything to "get informed" on whatever the lead story is, just sit back and believe.

"Just Sit Back and Believe"

That pretty well describes 52% of the voting public, about 60% of the general public who are too inert to vote, and depicts the content on or in almost ALL of the "Main Stream Media" we've heard so much about.

Yeah, we are also being manipulated by the MSM. We are also marginalized for our memory of history, of pluralistic society, and of "New Deal" plans for a better future for the working class.

Who fought and won the 40-hour work week? Minimum Wage? Social Security?

Hint hint.... The logo - picture thingie- for the party involves a donkey.
