this tournament has been very entertaining to me. under 20, amateurs from 10 countries playing in dakota. it is what olympic hockey should be. the level of play has been very high, solid skating & checking. goaltending has been spotty however.
espn is apparently only broadcasting the u.s. games. are you getting these games in canada? all the teams or just canadian?
it is too bad that the nhl has locked out its players. i love the nhl but they don't take their sport seriously. they treat it like any corporate bean counter treats every business. i really think with few exceptions the national hockey league owners have no love for the game.
at its heart, the owners lockout is the old "make me not spend money on you, i can't help myself" plea. you remember nfl owners doing the same thing a few years back. they got their way & now all the owners are guaranteed a profit. when did that guarantee become the imperative to owning a sport's club. how did we, the consumer, the fans let the world of sport get so corporatised? watching the spunk & enthusiasm of these kids playing the game they love makes the nhl look so jaded & cynical.
anyway - up tonight on espn - sweden v. u.s.a.
should be good.
oh no. "casablanca" is on tcm same time. damn. & me w/out tivo.
happy new year all
