We see a different war now. "Now, however, those same ratings have plunged. 40% in the case of Fox and CNN. The tension building crawl and blaring blues no longer seem to be a dark light through the tunnel, but a glowering presence."

Right now occupying my time is the question of offshoring. It is a great political club to hit Republicans with, but it isn't really a problem in the sense that it doesn't have a direct solution. We need to do something, but since it is a symptom, and not a cause....
This year increased gas prices will gost Americans more than offshoring will in the next 10 years.
The budget deficit is going to increase long term borrowing costs for all Americans by more than all offshoring for the next 30 years. Easily. Not even close.
So why the uproar over outsourcing? The first two, while much bigger, hurt everyone basically alike - while offshoring hurts a few people a lot. That's the problem with a system that is interconnected in reality, but where everyone is out for themselves first and foremost. The most painful problems, politically, aren't the big ones, they are the ones that fall disproportionately on people.
Yes, getting dropped from the professional class is a death sentence, and that is why people who are under the threat of it worry about offshoring.
And that is why we need to go back to a sane organization of income taxation and spreading the social surplus.
Oh, and by the way - realize that the reason we aren't seeing increased employment, is not because of offshoring primarily, but because of the Bush tax cuts. Look the rich know this party is going to end so, so they are pumping up profits as much as they can now - even if it means not hiring - so they can take the money, get it taxed at the lower rate, and run.
That's right dear American Worker - you are paying to have your job shipped over to India, not because globalism is bad, but because the hogs are slopping at the trough.
