With the latest BushCo revelations, I dashed-off an e-mail to each of my House and Senate representatives. The letter shown in the "blockquote" attempts to describe my fury at the President's actions and my disdain for the temerity and/or duplicity of our Congress. It is time that these 435 elected representatives of the people stood up. The majority can certainly put the brakes on this runaway President. Even the Democrats and/or the Independents can stand for what is right even though they may be slapped down by the Republican majority. Right and wrong do not have a "Party" distinction. So where are values when we need them?
I expect that my representatives in the Congress will do their job. I do not accept that they cow before the executive branch or to the President himself. Is that too much to ask?
An overzealous George W. Bush has stepped over the line many times during his reign as President. This, usually, is not in the form of breaking the law but rather in telling half truths, untruths, defaming the former good name of the United States of American, and generally showing a level of belligerence and contempt that is unnecessary and very unwise. In his arrogance, he treats all who do not submit to his views as "the enemy". He bullies his way based on a hard-core following of about thirty percent of the country and unfortunately, an apathetic additional thirty or forty percent of the America's people.
This time he has gone too far. Spying on U. S. citizens by the NSA is intolerable without the pre-event full knowledge of the Congress and the acquiescence of the Court established to monitor and oversee such events.
It is past time for the Congress to investigate this Administration's flouting of the Constitution and established laws of this land. It is time that Mr. Bush be held accountable. Are you as my representative up to it?
When will you speak out and vote to reign-in these dictatorial leanings and actions of the current Administration? It is your responsibility in representing we, the people, to stop the erosion of America's freedoms. I hope and expect that you will stand-up and fight for our rights and our freedoms.
I would appreciate a "real" response and not the usual staff generated drivel that seldom states or implies what your true actions will be. If you don't plan to do anything about the Executive Branch's misguided ways...just say it flat-out. I don't need to be coddled...but, I would warn that I do speak-out and vote based on my view of my Congressman's performance.
Merry Christmas and best regards for the New Year.
You too should take a little of the time that you spend "blogging" and rattle the cages of your elected representatives.
