Commanders in Iraq are
crowing about reduced attacks on US forces since the start of operation "Iron Hammer".
Of course attacks are down. It's classic guerilla behavior. When the enemy flexes its muscles, simply slink away and wait for the storm to pass. It doesn't mean the US is "winning", or that its attacks are having any real military success. Just that they are prolonging the inevitable.
The US will eventually have to end its offensive, and when it does, attacks will be back up to the old level. In the meantime, the resistance is taking out Iraqi collaborators, making the task of governing Iraq yet more difficult. The US dream of a pro-West, pro-Israel Iraqi government is nothing more than a flight of fancy.
Update: I guess those guerillas who just attacked the US HQ in downtown Baghdad didn't get the Iron Hammer message.
