Stephanie Tubbs-Jones tries to sink fellow Dem.

Wed Apr 19, 2006 at 04:58:40 PM PDT

A lot of people are optimistic about the Ohio Governor's race but unfortunately some sore losers in Ted Strickland's own party are trying to do their level best to make him lose (and, further, some in the blogosphere who don't know the score seem to think that it's because ODP Chair Redfern and Strickland haven't done their part http://ohio2006elections.blogspot.com/ at the top of the page).  The real reason, at least by the most outspoken of the individuals comes from losing their "don't vote" attempt to install their choice as chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party.  Further, this ignores the many people in these regions who are backing Ted Strickland.
Stephanie Tubbs-Jones appears to be trying to sink Ted Strickland by sending the message that Ted disrespects black voters (and if the flyer left at the 11th district caucus came from her, black women voters in particular, which must be news to Barbra Sykes who Ted has backed strongly).

What this ignores is that the reason that Tubbs-Jones is angry has nothing to do with Ted's view of race but rather that she (and Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin who also attended this event) was part of an effort to install Dennis Lieberman (no relation to Joe that I know of) as Ohio Democratic Party chair despite the fact that witnesses clearly stated that the first voice vote actually went for Redfern and not Lieberman.  An angry fracus ensued after which either a written ballot or a recorded ballot elected Redfern.  Tubbs-Jones has been declaring ever since that STrickland forced the election through (despite the clear evidence that McLin was trying to install Lieberman, who is the county chair of her home party, as ODP chairman inspite of the votes).  Several people have commented on the Buckeye Blog (Tim Russo's blog) that Redfern and Strickland have tried to make amends but have been rebuffed.

Now if Ted truly didn't care about black voters would he have received the endorsements of:

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory
State Senate Minority Leader C.J. Prentiss
State Senator Tom Roberts
Cuyahoga County Commissioner Peter Lawton Jones
Ohio Legislative Black Caucus
Stark County Black Caucus
Suburban Black Officials of Cuyahoga County

Just remember, this is merely about Stephanie Tubbs-Jones trying to screw over someone who beat out her side.
