Unfortunately, Giuliani is beating Spitzer in most recent polls, and since there is no way in hell he could ever win over the support of the Republican base on the Presidential level (do you really think that the Evangelicals WON'T vote third party if he's the nominee?) my bet is that either he will run for Governor or for Senate, although a Gubernatorial bid is more likely, since Hillary is pretty popular at the moment, and is beating him in hypothetical polls. Pataki is old news, and voters are wary of him in the way they were of Cuomo in 1994, and with a thin state-wide GOP bench, Rudy becomes their knight in shinning armor. A race against Spitzer would, in the eyes of netural voters, be a race between two "heroic" people. New Yorkers like Spitzer because of his willingness to fight greedy corporations, while many of them like Giuliani because of 9/11, 9/11, and 9/11. For now, it is too early to tell, but I ask NY Kossacks to keep an eye out.
