Now is the time-the time is now!

The thing that makes me cringe, when I bother to watch politics on the TV, is when the good guys, democrats, are accused of having no ideas and then, when they offer them up, they do so by way of comparison rather than direct statement.  This happened recently on the Daily Show when my Hero Dr. Howard Dean, fell in the hole:  "I'll tell you what we'll do," he said  - and I held my breath with anticipation -- "we won't do what the republicans are doing."  And I nearly choked.

Josh Marshall finds that the "no ideas" attack still works (http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/...) and frankly, I'm not surprised, when democrat after democrat is STILL talking in terms of who they are not, rather than who they are.

It's a very simple change.  And here's the very simple challenge.  From now till November, never refer to the other party when asked what you are going to do.  Oh sure, blast them for all their lack of oversight and un-ethical behavior and bad ideas and all the rest.  But then set that aside and don't mention them again.  There was a time for blaming and comparison, but if the polls are to believed, we've come out slightly on top and NOW is the time win the hearts and minds of the American people -- and you won't do that by simply claiming not to be as bad as the bad guys - it's time to be good. The time is now.
