The Idea and goal of this is to reinvigorate the groudwork on the question of 'why'. The Two parties of the United States can be broken down---ever since the Wilson Presidency, as: The differences between the classes; and the difference between the temporary, and the long term solutions.
Too often, I cannot help but see Republicans trump democrats on issue after issue after issue because the Republicans just make it all too simple---and the Democrats just can't counter it---seemingly the Republicans have the English language down, and the Democrats are speaking jibberish to a society that has just had enough with just about everything.
But the United States is just not as conservative as the Administration or its representatives in the White House are, in fact, I'll go on to say that the United States is so un- partisan, that it doesn't even know what it wants. Seemingly, the task of the great is no longer doing, but reminding--others---what to do.
As Democrats, we must ask why. It is time that we stop allowing Republicans to rape this nation in a horrific and treasonous way, and it is time to take back this nation for the people in the reality based community. How do we do it? A Manifesto it shall be. This will continue as a lengthy series.
The Modern Democratic party and tradition is easily transcribed as being the child of the great progressive tradition starting with the election of Woodrow Wilson as President, with a complete mandate for progressive reform espoused by three of the four main parties running a candidate of the time. Since then, there have been slight deviations, but a better name for the Democratic Party should be that of the 'Laborers Party'----it is what this party is wroght from. I will refer to the Democratic Party often as the Labor Party--- because I feel an intense need to get back to the roots of the Problems of the United States.
In todays world--- the only way to fully forge ahead into making a comprehensive agenda that people will open their eyes to is to look beyond the right versus left scope. Democrats must dig themselves out of the connotative hole of being 'socialists'. So what if some programs we espouse are socialistic---it is for the betterment of the people of the United States. You can then pose to the Republican,"Sir, what is wrong with solutions that work, just because you don't like the name?"
Democrats must stop being afraid of their shadow, and actively be the Labor Party.
Democrats must espouse a bold agenda for workers Worldwide. For---in a globalized economy, domestic little 'pick- me- ups' won't solve the massive labor issues of the modern world.
The Democratic Party must immediately call for an international bill of workers rights which includes a comprehensive review and demand for every country to have a minimum wage comparable to a living standard in their land, with exceptions of of foreign companies---which should pay the minimum wage of its land in the foreign territory----or the one in which it is in---whichever is higher.
It must include provisions for complete suffrage of women and minorities. Womens' suffrage is directly linked to the economic and political health of a land, without it, one stagnates.
The Freedom of Assembly and Unionization should be guaranteed.
Think about it. If the minimum wage in China (which stands right now at 30 cents I believe) were raised to 2 dollars ( an amount easily handled with the amount of capital in the country of China)---who would benefit? Not only would the people of china benefit, but we as Americans would benefit.
How?
The Chinese people buy American products too. Well now, they're going to buy even more---more jobs---instantly.
Fair trade liberalization must be the cornerstone of the Democratic Party. Abolish the abominable currency- floating schemes of China and other nations immediately---call for minimum wage standards within countries----guarantee the rights of assembly and Unionization-- and fair trade can be accomplished--- we can all share in the wealth of a healthy Democratic and Capitalistic society.
If a country refuses---simply do not trade with them and call in their debts---this is a powerful weapon considering our place in the world today.
The Democratic Party must be bold without boundaries to the right or left. It's time for the common- sensers to take back politics, and the world.
More to come.
