I voted in the republican primary in South Carolina

I would like to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Joshua Lemere and I have been a lurker on DailyKos for quite some time now - about 3 years or so. With the inspiration of YearlyKos, I have decided to "come out" and post my first ever diary.
I participated in the South Carolina Republican Primary that is being held today to vote against one of the nation's most horrible governors - Mark Sanford. He is being challenged by a doctor and former committe chair under Sanford by the name of Oscar Lovelace.
As a 5th grade teacher, I felt it important to save our educational system from the threat of private vouchers, which Sanford is bent on shoving through our state legislature (besides already being defeated once). He is so harmful to something that I hold so dear to my heart that I had to do whatever I could to vote against him.
Now, I am a hardcore liberal and progressive democrat, but there was nothing of interest to me in the Democratic primary. A race for governor between candidates that are afraid to say they voted for John Kerry is all that is.
Furthermore, we our losing our incredible Superintendent of Education, Inez Tenenbaum, to retirement. Her place will likely be succeeded by a republican, so I voted for Bob Staton in that race, over Sanford's protege - Karen Floyd. Staton is a former democrat that understands how enormously impossible it is to get elected as a statewide democrat.
Anyways, I just thought I would share my ideas with you and where I'm coming from. Keep an eye out for the returns tonight from South Carolina - if Lovelace get's 30% or more, it will be considered a moral victory.
