Framing the Debate on Faith and Family Values

Wed Jun 28, 2006 at 08:06:37 PM PDT

After watching a host of political talk shows the last few weeks, I've noticed that....
Democrats need to be doing a better job of framing the debate. It's important to get out talking points on faith, and Christianity and how we are the party of family values and not the Republicans. Dems need to get together and decide on a consistant message about family values and repeat at every opportunity possible. Stay on message until people are sick of hearing it. Republicans have boxed Dems into a corner when it comes to faith and family values. It is always has something to do with abortion, gay marriage, prayer in schools - you know the hot button issues. We need to create our own hot button issues around faith and family values and pound away at Republicans at every instance : healthcare, poverty, jobs, social security, environment, corruption, lying to American families about war. on and on.
Other than Edwards, and Obama, I'm not hearing anything from our Dem leaders and talking heads about reframing the debate and taking the Republicans biggest asset, faith and family values, and ramming it right up their asses, Karl Rove style. That's what we should be hearing from our party leaders, and yet for the life of me I'm not hearing it. That's why we lost in 04. Most every exit poll supported it. Dems talked about it after the election. What happened? Even now, with the anti-Bush sentiment, Republicans are doing a better job of framing the debate. This midterm election is as important as any mid term in history. What are our party leaders doing? Unbelievable!
