Wait. Wouldn't you think that we'd be anti-warlord? Wellll....
Ironically, this year's fighting was fuelled by the belief that the United States was funding the warlords group, calling itself the anti-terrorism alliance. The US Government has refused to confirm that, but there's a strong indication that American operatives were funding the losing side to the tune of $100,000 a month.Somalia's interim Government Spokesman, Abdirahman Denari, says the country wants to fight terrorism, but not the way the US was doing it by hated warlords in what some call a proxy war against Islam.
Well, our funding the warlords sure sounds like US foreign policy. And why fight a war on 2 fronts when you can fight one on 3? (Or 4, or 5, or 6?) And where are we getting the troops for this fight? The article concludes on a nice and happy note, too.
But in the meantime, Islamic leaders have vowed to create a bloodbath if the United States even contemplates stepping in.
Not that that will stop us. We'd be fighting them in Somalia so we don't have to fight them here, I guess.
