The Volokh Conspiracy is an interesting flash video presentation called "The Philosophy of Liberty".
It will take you a few minute to watch, but it's worth the time. Call me a left leaning libertarian, or maybe a Federalist like James Madison was (not like the Federalist Society of today claims to be) but maybe we should talk about things such as...
How easy the basic ideas of Liberty are to embrace when they support or confrom to our own ideologies. But what to do when those ideas are in opposition to our instincts?
Watch the video and then think about how liberty supports abortion rights and condemns pre-emptive war while at the same time it supports gun ownership and condemns the redistribution of wealth and a strong central government.
It would do us all well to explore these seeming contradictions while we strive to formulate a plan for a sound majority party.
Or, perhaps, I'm being naive!
