This is where I have been since it became clear that Kerry would win the nomination. Watching Dean yesterday it became clear why. We have massive problems facing us because of the various Bush follies that are going to come home to roost in a big way for the next administration. These problems require someone with tremendous political courage to tackle them. All the Bush tax cuts need to be rolled back, and spending must be cut if we are to avoid disaster, neither of which will be popular. Based on his track record I very much doubt that Kerry has the courage to ignore his chances for re - election and make the tough choises for the good of the country that are nessessary. I feel he is likely to be largly ineffectual in the face of the grave problems we will be facing. Electing him could prove to be a short term fix that may lead to long term disaster for the democratic party.
On the other hand we have Bush of course, the SCOTUS, and John Ascroft. To bad we don't have more time. Perhaps the best solution would be concentrating on taking back the congress instead while allowing Bush to be re-elected. That way Bush and the repugs would have to deal with the consequences of thier awful leadership, while they would limited in the amount of further damage they could do. Afterall, things didn't get really bad until 2002, when the brakes totally came off. Who knows, with control of congress perhaps Bush would be the next Nixon.
I guess we don't have time to do this though, so we are effectively screwed.
