Friday I had the privilege of going to the United States Naval Academy Commencement and Commissioning Ceremony.
I honored a young man I think of much like a nephew, who I'm proud to know. We are all luckier for his service to his country. He's a great human.
I think of him this Memorial Day with a desperate prayer that he will never be remembered as one of the fallen. I don't think I could bear that.
So,what was my one wish before going to Annapolis?
I hope to God Rumsfeld, Cheney or Bush are not the commencement speaker!
Who was the speaker?
Dick Cheney.
And what did I do?
[proceed quickly to There's Moreville to find out!]
My stupid camera shutter is not opening completely. But you get the gist of the photo. One middle finger pointed at Dead-Eye Dick. My friends sitting around me snickered. They were, in truth, glad I did only that, and nothing like stand up and scream all the things at Cheney that he really deserves.
There you go, Dick, or whoever's watching the web for Dick. You didn't see it, but I sure felt it. I did it for all of DK, and most of America.
BTW, we entered the stadium with only a cursory glance at a few people's handbags.
Know what else I saw that was much cooler?
The Blue Angels!
My darling late husband was a passionate aviation enthusiast and we went to multiple air shows but somehow never saw the Blue Angels before.
My response was a very loud and amazed "HOLY SHIT!"
I rec seeing them.
And now, I ask this important question.
